Rotarian Jack Hardie spearheaded an effort in getting all ten city councils, four school boards and the Board of Supervisors in Dickinson County to start all meetings with a recitation of The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Last November the Iowa Great Lakes Rotary began contacting the Boards and Councils with a request to pass a resolution to start their meetings with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. A Rotarian contacted the President, Mayor, Chairman or Administrator to obtain a place on the agenda of one of their meetings to present this action item:

"Be it resolved that (organization) shall recite The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag to commence all (organization) meetings."

When the item came up at their meeting held in city halls, schools, libraries, fire halls or offices, the Rotarian discussed the values of Patriotism, support for our country and the example it sets.

All passed the resolution. Also those groups that did not display an American Flag do so now. Congrautations Jack on a job well done!!
