The Iowa Great Lakes Rotary has donated and distributed 2040 dictionaries to third graders in Okoboji, Spirit Lake and Lake Park, to date. Of these, 245 were distributed in 2013. The Rotary organization as a whole has donated 7,846,173 books. They have been implementing the project since 2002-2003, with at least 3,195 clubs/sections participating in the project. They have donated to over 22,229 school(s) nationwide. So far in 2013-2014, they have donated 447,627 books, giving to students in over 5,169 schools, and with about 731 clubs participating.

Support for this project makes it possible for students to receive a dictionary for their own personal use that they will be able to use for a lifetime. For some children, this may be the very first book they have owned. The Iowa Great Lakes Rotary members are proud to be part of the great education effort, giving students such an important tool.
