Jim Ladegaard shared the Raebel murder story from 1944 with the Iowa Great Lakes Rotary during its regular meeting on Wednesday, August 25. Jim, interested in local history, researched the murder of Rob and Esther Raebel in 1944. The Raebels owened and operated Raebel's Resort on West Lake Okoboji at the time, located where the Landings is now. Phillip and Henry Heincy were captured and convicted and eventually hung in Dickinson County for the murders, the only hanging known to have happened in the county. More information can be found on the murders at the Spirit Lake Library.
