The Humane Society of Northwest Iowa was the program for the Iowa Great Lakes Rotary Club on February 23, 2011. Kate Whitrock, executive director of the Humane Society has been their director for six years and her passion is evident as she spoke to our club about the various services available to ourcommunity. "It is not just a pound," explained Whitrock. Services provided include Animal adoption and Surrender, Behavior Training, Paws with a Cause Elderly Care Facility Program, Youth Programs, Impound services, as well as Cremation. Covering a 6 county area, the Humane Society gets a small percentage of their budget covered by the state and depends a lot on donations and memberships. Kate encouraged everyone to visit their website at www.humanesocietyofnwia.com for great stories, videos, and testimonials. The shelter's slogan: Adopt...until none are left. Thanks to Kate Whitrock for an informative program!
